Frequently Asked Questions
Why hire a copywriter?
A copywriter can help your business to become more profitable in two important ways. First, instead of you trying to write your own marketing materials, the copywriter will do it for you, giving you more time to focus on your core business. Second, because the copywriter is a professional writer, your marketing materials will be better written and will attract more potential customers to your website.
In short, hiring a copywriter will save you time and help you to make more money!
What’s the difference between copy and content?
Copy and content are often confused with one another. The main difference between them is that copy is a sales tool, while content is informational. Copy exists to persuade people to take a certain action, whether that be buying a product or clicking on a link. Content, on the other hand, provides free information and value to attract readers and build trust. When done correctly, copy and content work together to form the basis of a cohesive marketing strategy.
What is SEO copywriting and why is it important?
SEO stands for "Search Engine Optimization", and every writer who produces web-based copy or content needs to know how to write to make best use of it.
In simple terms, copy/content that is search engine "optimized" contains the keywords that people are most likely to use when entering a search query into a search engine (usually Google). This makes that copy/content much easier for searchers to find, which leads to more exposure for you and, potentially, more paying customers.
Can you improve my existing marketing materials?
We provide copy editing and/or proofreading services, depending on your requirements. The differences between copy editing and proofreading are, briefly, as follows:
· Proofreading – we only check your written materials for typos and errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
· Copy editing – we review your material for readability and flow, and rework sentences and paragraphs for clarity and consistency.
Please contact Persuasive Words for more information on these services.
What is your process?
1. You make an enquiry by phone or email.
2. We arrange a time to “meet” (usually by phone or Zoom) to discuss your requirements.
3. We have the meeting/discussion.
4. I send you your tailored quote.
5. If you accept the quote, you will need to pay a 50% deposit to activate the job.
6. I write the copy and/or content and send it to you for your approval.
7. I make any changes you request (maximum of two sets of revisions).
8. I send the finished product to you or your graphic/web designer.
9. I send the invoice to you for the balance of payment.
The process need not be as rigid as this appears. There can always be slight variations, depending on circumstances. Always feel free to make contact to discuss any concerns or questions you may have during the process.
What information do you need to provide a tailored quote?
Before our first meeting, I will send you a document titled “Project Specifications” which will form the basis of our first meeting/discussion. This document contains a list of detailed questions regarding your copy/content project, including such things as:
· the product/service you want to promote,
· the background to, and objectives of your marketing campaign,
· your target audience/s, and
· the features and benefits of your product/service.
You don’t need to answer these questions before the meeting: the document is intended to get you thinking about the details of the project so that our meeting can be as productive as possible.
Who owns the copyright in the work once completed?
You do! Once the work is completed and full payment has been made, the rights to the copy/content belong to you, the client.
